HSV1. What are the chances to have a false positive? Is it genital or both since I had kissing as well?
I have been diagnosed IGg positive with HSV1 strain through a blood test. I didn't have any symptom at that time in genital or oral area. With one month before I noticed a few red dots on my penis like small pimples. I had someone performing oral sex on me. My question is, what are the chances to have a false positive? No outbreaks since then just an itching rash which didn't last.. And how can I know what is the site of infection since no symptoms. Is it genital or both since I had kissing as well?
Thanks for the answer.
So if we cannot know for sure if the infection is oral or genital, how should I disclose my status to a potential partner? If I just say I have herpes, but don't know what type I think this will add more uncertainty. Knowing what type and where is the infection would be important to avoid transmission to someone else.
